It may seem like I’m saying in the jest, but I’m quite serious when I talk about the magic in creating art. I’ve never painted anything like Cherry Blossoms before, but I had an idea in mind, and it came out almost exactly as I envisioned it. I don't know how - I don’t even know why I got to be the one to bring it to life - but I’m incredibly excited to introduce you to the beautiful and one-of-a-kind Cherry Blossoms

I wasn’t having a “bad” day, per se, just a lame one. The kind you wouldn't mind resetting and beginning again. I decided to give myself the best restart I could manage - a long walk. While out, I found the cherry blossoms have already started to bloom. I trimmed two small branches and pocketed them for the rest of my walk while I dreamt up how they might look on the canvas. I hoped to portray the simple beauty of the cherry blossoms while making note of the slog of the day. Something that looked mournful, dripping, abstract, but hopeful. Something where the beauty of the backdrop, of the events that already took place, could become hazy and blend into the newer, fresher, brighter outlook of the day.

I love Cherry Blossoms’ depth. I love how the paint reaches off the canvas. I love that I was able to frame it all in a cherished vase inherited from my wonderful grandmother. I love how the blossoms blend and rise. And yes, I have a favorite brush stroke. How about you?
